Texas athletic director DeLoss Dodds spent part of today trying to squelch internet speculation about the impending departure of football coach Mack Brown after a 7-5 season.
“Anything you are hearing, absolutely nothing about it is true,” Dodds told The Associated Press in a phone interview after internet rumors regarding Brown’s job status have persisted following the team’s 48-24 loss to Baylor on Saturday. “It’s … something we want to put to bed.”
Dodds’ comments meshed with Brown’s post-game take Saturday in Waco, when the coach laughed off erroneous speculation from a radio station in Topeka, Kan. about his impending retirement. After the Baylor game, Brown, 60, said he plans to “coach for a long time” at Texas.
“When I do retire, it won’t come from a twit, a Twitter, in Topeka, Kan.,” Brown said.

The UT regents obviously have a different attitude about changing coaches than do the A&M regents. Both programs have problems now. A&M has pulled the trigger frequently of late, without any improvement. My suggestion would be to give this coaching staff another year ... without interference from Dodds, the Regents or the loyal Longhorn fanbase.
