Texas receiver Darius White, a sophomore from Fort Worth Dunbar, has been given an unconditional release from his scholarship and will transfer to another school for the spring semester, school officials announced today.
White will not travel with the team to the Holiday Bowl and has yet to decide where he will transfer. In a statement released by the school, White said he “came to the conclusion that I really just need a fresh start” after making six catches in two seasons with the Longhorns. Five of those catches came this season, including a 31-yarder for a touchdown against Texas Tech.
White (6-foot-3, 200 pounds) was a Parade All-American in high school and played in the 2010 Under Armour All-America Game.
