Kansas State has been on Arlington Bowie's Demonte Hood for several months and the 6-foot, 290 pound defensive tackle said he is close to making his college decision with National Signing Day just 10 days away.
"I like their program," Hood said of the Wildcats. "Everything just feels right."
Hood indicated he has developed a strong relationship with the Kansas State coaching staff and wanted to be sure he felt certain before making a decision.
He is also considering Michigan State, which has shown heavy interest as of late, as well as Colorado State and said he is waiting to see if additional offers came his way.
"To be truthful, I would love to play in the SEC," Hood said. "But it's all about football and there's just as much competition in the Big 10 or the Big 12."
The 6-foot, 290 pound Hood racked up 60 tackles this season (seven for loss) and two sacks while dealing with a knee injury that kept him sidelined for three games.
This past season, he helped Bowie reach the Class 5A Division I regionals, where the Volunteers fell to eventual state champion Southlake Carroll.
Hood said he is working to make sure his standardized test scores were in order but felt confident he would qualify.
Trinity OL Lutui decommits

Lutui is scheduled to visit USC this weekend before making a final decision. He visited Utah in December.
The Bruins currently have commitments from two other local players as Lutui's Trinity teammate, safety Laiu Moeakiola, has been committed since October.
