Baylor forward Perry Jones III said today that he is “close enough” to being 100 percent recovered from an ankle injury sustained Jan. 16 against Kansas that the ailment should not impact his play in Saturday’s game against Texas (noon, Waco).
Jones, the Big 12 pre-season player of the year, had 21 points and 12 rebounds in Tuesday’s 77-65 victory over Oklahoma. It marked his first double-double since tweaking the ankle, which bothered him last week when No. 6 Baylor (18-2, 5-2 in Big 12) dropped consecutive games to No. 5 Kansas, 92-74, and No. 2 Missouri, 89-88.
“I can cut more now,” Jones said. “In the Kansas and Missouri games, I couldn’t cut like I wanted.”
Saturday’s game against Texas (13-7, 3-4) sold out today, becoming only the second advance sellout in program history.
