CBSsports.com reports that UT San Antonio will join Conference USA in 2013, pending approval Wednesday from the University of Texas System Board of Regents.
The report also says C-USA is looking to add North Texas and Florida International from the Sun Belt Conference and Louisiana Tech from the Western Athletic Conference, citing sources from the BCS meetings in Florida last week.
C-USA is losing four members, including SMU and Houston, to the Big East.
UT San Antonio had been headed to the WAC, the league UT Arlington is set to join in July. The WAC's future appears to be in jeopardy.
UTA had already said it was prepared to reassess its move from the Southland Conference to the WAC.
UTA, which doesn't participate in football, was looking at a WAC in men's basketball that last season had Nevada, New Mexico State, Idaho, Utah State, Louisiana Tech, Hawaii, Fresno State and San Jose State, and was adding in basketball (and other non-football sports) Boise State, Denver, Seattle and UTA, along with football and all-sport members UTSA and Texas State.
The Mountain West, according to CBSsports.com, will add Utah State and San Jose State 2013 to help keep its FBS status in the NCAA.
