Anthony Fera, an All-Big Ten kicker for Penn State last season, announced today he will transfer to Texas. Fera, who will be a junior this season, will be eligible immediately and fills a need area for the Longhorns heading into the 2012 season.
Fera, who played in high school at Houston St. Pius X, made 14-of-17 field goals last season (82.4 pct.) and was 20-of-20 on PATs. He also averaged 42 yards on 64 punts.
Fera cited a desire to be closer to home because of an illness in the family but said he planned to obtain his bachelor’s degree from Penn State. Texas players report Sunday for fall drills.
“A new chapter in my life begins next week, and I am very excited,” Fera said in a statement.
