The week before the TCU game, Oklahoma Sooners coach Bob Stoops was asked on his weekly radio show whom he would pick for the Heisman Trophy.
"I tell you who I like," Stoops said. "Usually, it's who has the best record and who's the quarterback or the running back on the best team. Right now, the only undefeated team is Notre Dame, and the best player on the team is Manti Te'o, and it's the defense that's made the difference in all these games. They've played a tough schedule. He's made the plays."
The Sooners will become somewhat the experts on which player should be the Heisman winner after they play Texas A&M and quarterback Johnny Manziel in the Cotton Bowl Classic. Oklahoma will have played against all three Heisman finalists this season, having lost to Collin Klein and Kansas State 24-19 and to Te'o and Notre Dame 30-13.
