Texada, a defensive back in football, tied with a 2014 TCU target, wide receiver KD Cannon, from Mount Pleasant. Both posted times of 10.63 in different heats.
Texada has used the track season over the past two years to help increase his already great speed and running ability and now has the focus of four years with the Horned Frog football team on the horizon.
"I get [to TCU] June 9 and that's when I start the workouts," Texada said. "That's everything I'm working for right now."
As for now, Texada said he's determined to finish with one of the top two times Saturday, earning him his first trip to the state meet.
Also participating in the 4A Region II meet was 2014 TCU commit Emanuel Porter (Dallas Lincoln), whose relay team qualified for Saturday's 4x100 relay. Porter participated in Friday's 400 dash, but finished last when he tweaked a hamstring on the final straightaway. He said he should be fine to run by Saturday afternoon.
