Two former TCU baseball stars will face off Friday afternoon.
Matt Carpenter and the St. Louis Cardinals
face right-hander Jake Arrieta and the Chicago Cubs at 3 p.m. Friday at Wrigley
Carpenter and Arrieta were Horned Frog teammates in 2006 and 2007. Arrieta was an All-American in 2006 after going 14-4 with a 2.35 ERA. Carpenter holds TCU records for most games played (241), at-bats (843) and is second all-time in base hits, doubles and walks.
Carpenter is batting .315 (5th in the National League) with a league-leading 40 doubles and 57 RBIs for the Cardinals this season. He’s also second in the league with 143 hits.
Arrieta (1-2) is making his second start for the Cubs. He held Milwaukie to one run in six innings in his Chicago debut July 30.
The game won't be broadcast locally but if you have an MLB.TV subscription you can watch the two former Frogs on your computer.
