Manziel, the 2012 Heisman winner, received odds of 12/1 to become a repeat winner. Before last week’s 45-41 loss to Auburn, Manziel was given 5/1 odds. Petty, who has his team at No. 8 in the BCS standings with a 6-0 record, received 20/1 odds Tuesday and was one of only five players to be assigned individual odds in the Heisman races.
The top three frontrunners were all quarterbacks: Oregon’s Marcus Mariota (10/11), Florida State’s Jameis Winston (11/10) and Alabama’s A.J. McCarron (10/1).
In terms of the BCS national championship race, Baylor (6-0, 3-0 in Big 12) ranked as the fifth favorite, with odds of 10/1. That marked an improvement over last week’s 12/1 odds. The top four teams, in order: top-ranked Alabama (8/5), Oregon (7/4), Florida State (3/1) and Ohio State (15/2).
