Texas' stint among the ranked teams in college football was short-lived.
The Longhorns cracked the Top 25 in all the major polls, including the BCS standings, after beating West Virginia in overtime last weekend, their sixth straight win. But they fell to Oklahoma State, 38-13, this Saturday and, as expected, fell out of the rankings.
Texas was No. 23 in last week's AP poll and No. 24 in the USA Today coaches' poll last week but fell out of both of those rankings. The BCS standings will be released tonight and the Longhorns are likely to fall out of the Top 25 there as well.
The Longhorns fell to 7-3 and 6-1 in Big 12 play in the loss to Oklahoma State and still have a chance to win the conference championship. If the Cowboys lose to Baylor next weekend, Texas can still win the Big 12 by winning out -- beating Texas Tech this Thanksgiving and the Bears the following weekend.
