David Ash had a reoccurrence of concussion symptoms last week and will miss this week's game against West Virginia, Texas head coach Mack Brown announced Monday.
Ash will sit out for the fifth straight game when the Longhorns travel to Morgantown this week, with Case McCoy making his sixth start of the year and true freshman Tyrone Swoopes backing him up.
Brown has reiterated the last few weeks that Ash needs a week between when he is medically cleared to play and when he can actually play. Ash had begun participating in certain team activities last week, throwing again and attending practices. But, after suffering another setback, his chances to suit up against this season took a hit.
Ash sustained a concussion this year in the fourth quarter of the Longhorns' loss to BYU in their second game of the season. He missed the next week's contest against Ole Miss before returning to start against Kansas State. But Ash did not play the second half of that game against the Wildcats after suffering another head injury in the first half.
