ARLINGTON -- Wichita State coach Gregg Marshall was named Thursday at the Associated Press National Coach of the Year.
Marshall's Shockers were 34-0 during the regular season and became the first team to go undefeated in the regular season in 33 years.
Marshall received 44 of a possible 65 votes from the national media panel. Virginia coach Tony Bennett finished second with 13 votes, Florida's Billy Donovan was third with six votes, followed by SMU's Larry Brown and Michigan's John Beilein, who each received one vote.
The Shockers finished the season 35-1 after losing to Kentucky in the NCAA tournament.
