Broncos remember Darrent

Broncos coach Mike Shanahan acknowledged that the mother of former Broncos cornerback Darrent Williams has been invited to attend the joint practices between the Cowboys and Broncos at Valley Ranch.

Shanahan just doesn’t know if she will make it. Williams, an O.D.Wyatt product, was shot to death Jan. 1 in downtown Denver. The case remains unsolved.

“She is still going through a tough time watching us play,” Shanahan said of Williams’ mother.

Shanahan said the Broncos plan to honor Williams’ mother at a game this season.

He said Williams’ death is still on the minds of many of the Broncos players, especially considering this was their first trip to Dallas-Fort Worth since Williams’ funeral.

“Any time you have a young man that passes away at 24 years of age, obviously it’s a very tough situation for every member of the football team,” Shanahan said.
