T Glenn will be ready

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said he's not worried about injured receiver Terry Glenn. And that if tonight's game was the start of the regular season, Glenn would be playing.

"He just doesn't know that," Jones said with a laugh before the game.

Should Mat McBriar be worried?

The Cowboys starting punter is punting in a game the Cowboys would really rather avoid playing. Every notable starter is currently working on crossword puzzles, or texting friends.
But there is McBriar, booming punts.

Crowd noise not a problem

Unlike their last previous game where there was actually crowd noise at Reliant Stadium, that doesn't figure to be a problem tonight. At least not from the waaaaaay-less than capacity crowd.
But the badly-outdated Metrodome should pose problems in the sense that it cranks up the music and noise from their speakers that this place sounds more like a runway than a stadium.

Is this is a game?

The Cowboys won't start Tony Romo, Julius Jones, Marion Barber, Jason Ferguson, Bradie James, DeMarcus Ware, Roy Williams, Kan Hamlin, or Anthony Henry.
So I had to ask coach Wade Phillips before the game on the sidelines, "Are you coaching this game?"
He said yes with a smile.
Seems as if he wants to try all of his No. 2s against Minnesota's No. 1s.
That's all well and good, but as bad as the Vikings are projected to be, is there that much difference between their No. 1 and a Cowboys' No.2 ?

Most Cowboys starters will sit out game

Only a few of the Cowboys starters will play in tonight's preseason game against Minnesota. Marcus Spears and Akin Ayodele will be the only defensive starters in the lineup. Flozell Adams and Marc Colombo will be the only offensive starters in the lineup.

Brad Johnson will start at quarterback.

Inactive for the game will be Martin Gramatica, Terence Newman, Kevin Burnett, Doug Free, Terry Glenn, and Greg Ellis.

Romo married?

Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo rattled the audience a little bit today at the kickoff luncheon. When he finished his thank yous after accepting the Offensive MVP award from last year he listed several that he wanted to thank including "my wife.''

   Did Romo and country music star Carrie Underwood get hitched? Not likely.

   Romo was surely kidding and had the crowd buzzing with puzzled faces. That's how he ended his quick speech so it added more value to the shocking statement. Romo likes to keep the public and media guessing when it comes to his love life.

Coach Wade Phillips said Cowboys Hall of Fame quarterback Roger Staubach recently met with Tony Romo and the rest of the team's quarterbacks and gave them some advice.

Friends with money

Billionaire oilman T.Boone Pickens, a friend of Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, was a guest speaker at the kickoff luncheon Wednesday in Addison.

Wade's opening line

Cowboys coach Wade Phillips welcomed himself to the Dallas/Fort Worth area with a funny, but uncomfortable, joke during his speech at the kickoff luncheon Wednesday at the Hotel Intercontinental in Addison.

When he was introduced, he did not receive a standing ovation.

"You don't have to give me a standing ovation," Phillips said. "But it's a good time to adjust your underwear if you need to. That's usually when I stand up for everybody."

Jerry, Super Bowl Gods and Wade

   Jerry Jones revealed a dark secret at Wednesday's kickoff luncheon. He made a deal with the Super Bowl Gods after winning Super XXX against Pittsburgh.

   ``I said look, if you'll just give us this Super Bowl I'll never ask again. I'll never ask again. I traded everything I had and everything I was going to get.''

   And how about this nugget Jerry followed up with as he put his hands out in front of him and added a deep voice. The Super Bowl Gods gave him a coaching idea.

  "And he reached down and said Wade Phillips,'' Jones said.

  Odd laughter ensued.
