Cowboys clinch first-round bye

Carolina’s 13-10 win over Seattle gives the Cowboys a first-round bye in the playoffs as no worse than the No. 2 seed in the NFC. Green Bay beat the imploding Rams 33-14, denying the Cowboys a chance today to seal home-field advantage throughout the playoffs no matter what they do against Philadelphia. The Cowboys will be idle for the first round of the playoffs on Jan. 5-6. They will host a divisional round game on the weekend of Jan. 12-13.
