Two of the Cowboys' top four 2007 draft picks were on the inactive list today: tackle James Marten and receiver Isaiah Stanback.
That essentially means this season was a redshirt year for both players. Marten dropped to nearly 280 pounds during training camp, but has since built himself back to over 300 pounds. If he's going to make a move on this roster, it's going to have to be in the offseason.
The third-round pick from Boston College played collegiately at left tackle, but was moved to the right side when he came to the Cowboys. But he's still behind Pat McQuistan and Doug Free.
Stanback remains a project. The former college quarterback, a fourth-round pick from Washington, battled a foot injury deep into training camp, and his best chance to do anything won't be until training camp in 2008.
They're not busts by any means, but it's safe to say the Cowboys got more out of rookie fullback Deon Anderson, who was a sixth-round pick ... and he's on injured reserve, too.
