Why Westbrook did it

Angel Verdejo explains that Eagles running back Brian Westbrook had help in deciding to drop on the 1-yard line rather than score with about 2:10 remaining and the Eagles leading the Cowboys 10-6. Help in the rather large form of right tackle Jon Runyan. "He's our offensive leader out there," Westbrook said. "I got a stern talking to from Jon Runyan right before that play. He said, 'Listen, if you get down to the 1, take a knee.' "

Westbrook said he groaned, but Runyan continued.

"'Take a knee, Wes, for real, take a knee,'" the 12-year veteran said Runyan told him. "I looked back and I saw all 6-7, 6-8 of him running toward me saying, 'Get down.' So I got down."
