Cowboys denied access

The Cowboys were denied access to interview Atlanta Falcons coach Emmitt Thomas, a friend and former staffer under Wade Phillips, for the team's vacancy at secondary coach. Thomas became the interim head coach in Atlanta when Bobby Petrino bolted for Arkansas.

Thomas, who coached with Phillips in Atlanta and is a native Texan, is expected to be retained on the Falcons' new staff.
