Dolphins hire Ireland

As expected, the Miami Dolphins hired Cowboys scouting director Jeff Ireland as general manager Wednesday.

Ireland became the leading candidate after Randy Mueller was fired Monday.

Ireland and Parcells worked together in Dallas when Parcells was head coach. It was Parcells who promoted Ireland to vice president of college and pro scouting in 2005. Previously, he was the national scout.
