Ex-Sooner would like to be Cowboy

Former Oklahoma Sooner cornerback Mike Hawkins is looking for a new home in the NFL. He would love to land back in his hometown of Dallas.

Hawkins (6-1, 187) is also a former Dallas Desperado and was attending the team's practice at Valley Ranch on Tuesday. He starred at Carrollton Turner and was a fifth-round draft pick in 2005 by Green Bay. But he is without a team after battling rib and knee injuries and played on three teams in three years.

Hawkins, who lives near the Cowboys headquarters, said he is getting interest from several teams but desires to get a shot in Dallas. He could be a player the Cowboys take a look at considering the familiarity and need at the position.
