Suspended Tennessee cornerback Adam Jones was in Arlington today hoping to drum up public support for a possible trade to the Cowboys.
So far he is saying all the right things about trying to rebound from his litany of entanglements. Here are a few of his comments on the Michael Irvin Show on 103.3 ESPN radio show:
* "I've got to do better," Jones
* "I'd be really lucky to get another shot," Jones said on whether he will be reinstated to the league by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.
*Jones said he is distancing himself from friends and family who have brought him down. "It's getting to the point where it ain't no time for slip-ups right now," Jones said. "It's like I'm on the cliff right now. Any slip-up and it's off the cliff."
*Jones acknowledged he made a mistake by going to a strip club the night before he met with Goodell, especially considering Goodell had told him to stay away from strip clubs. "It was a bad decision," Jones said. "It was one of the dumbest decisions I've ever made. ... It's just not going to happen anymore."
*Jones said he came to Dallas to do the interview to attempt to offer his perspective on his legal problems.
