Dallas war room happenings

NFL Network just showed some behind-the-scenes moments with audio in the Cowboys war room from Saturday.

Wade Phillips seemed to be the most excited about Arkansas running back Felix Jones, ''good pick,'' he exuded after Jerry Jones turned in the selection. Wade turned around and gave a low-five to Jason Garrett, who seems to be getting closer and closer to Jerry in the war room these days. Hmm....

Cowboys trade up to get CB

The Cowboys traded pick No. 155 and got Boise State cornerback Orlando Scandrick, who was selected with the 143nd pick by Jacksonville.

Dallas also gave up its seventh-round pick at No. 213. It was the Cowboys fifth trade of the day.

As a special teams bonus, Scandrick holds the Boise State record with seven blocked kicks.

Tashard inspires GT

Tell me who inspires you more -- Chan Gailey or Tashard Choice. The music does the touch, too.

Choice tight w/Adrian Peterson

GT running back Tashard Choice and Vikings running back Adrian Peterson are tight. Choice backed up Peterson while at Oklahoma to start his college career before leaving for GT.

Choice did not sit out when the transferred from OU to GT after petitioning the NCAA not to sit out because of family issues. His three brothers have been in and out of trouble.

Choice said Peterson has visited his apartment in Georgia. Choice said Peterson called him today but they hadn't had a chance to talk. He still calls him one of his teammates and ''homeboys.''

Another hidden gem for Broncos?

The Denver Broncos made their seemingly annual fifth-round pick running back selection. Will Arizona State's Ryan Torain (6-1, 222) be their next discovery?

GT back says he's healthy

GT running back Tashard Choice says he is fully recovered from minor knee surgery in October. He also battled hamstring injuries but his fine. Choice was totally healthy for only two games last season.

Some numbers on choice....Runs a 4.62 in the 40; Averaged 5.3 yards per carry last season; rushed for 100 yards or more eight times last season (including 204 against Miami).

Choice has carried a big workload at GT. He had six games with 25 or more carries. While Arkansas running back Felix Jones, who Choice met at the combine, has had little wear-and-tear in college, Choice has put on some miles.

Choice says people are sleeping on him

Georgia Tech running back Tashard Choice says he is going to surprise a lot of people. He brings a hard-running style and is 5-foot-11, 211 pounds. Choice is a former Oklahoma Sooner, who backed up Adrian Peterson. Choice left the school to return home in Georgia because of family issues. Choice said his brothers are doing better and were with him on Sunday when he was selected.

Choice rushed for 1,379 yards and 10 touchdowns this year. He led GT in rushing in 2006 and 2007.

Is he catching this?

Are the Cincinnati Bengals sending disgruntled wide receiver Chad Johnson a message? He has told the team to trade him. The team has told him he's not going anywhere and said that he can just sit out the season if he's so unhappy.

It doesn't look like the Bengals are bluffing (or if they are at least they're bracing for the possibility that Johnson calls them on it). They spent two of their first four picks on receivers: Jerome Simpson of Coastal Carolina in the 2nd round and Andre Caldwell of Florida in the 3rd.

The Tennessee Titans selected California wide receiver Lavelle Hawkins with the fourth round pick (No. 126) they received from the Cowboys as part of the Pacman Jones trade.

Bowie's Iwebema heads to Arizona

Arlington Bowie product Kenny Iwebema, a defensive end from Iowa, was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals with pick No. 116 in the fourth round.
