It sounds like wishful thinking but linebacker Anthony Spencer is hoping to return for the Sept. 15 game against Philadelphia.
"That's when I want to come back if that's possible," Spencer said.
Spencer is not yet running after having his knee scoped on Aug. 20 to remove loose cartilage that came off the back of his knee cap. The injury was first believed to be a knee bruise because the cartilage couldn't be found on his first MRI. The second one revealed it and had surgery as soon as possible.
This is the first knee injury of his career and he likely won't be able to return to practice this week.
Meanwhile, fellow linebacker Kevin Burnett (who also had minor knee surgery) is expected to return to practice this week, maybe today.
