Redskins owner Danny Synder is getting back to his previous ways of opening his fat wallet in free agency. They made the first big splash in free agency with a dumptruck full of cash for Tennessee defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth. Haynesworth is the new $100 million man and new upgrade to the Redskins defense.
He adds an interior boost to a defense that was already impressive and was ranked fourth in the NFL last season. But the Redskins did struggle in the pass rush department finishing with just 24 sacks (28th in the NFL). Haynesworth expects to make that change and is coming off a career-high 8.5 sacks this past season.
Also have to wonder what Cowboys center Andre Gurode is thinking right now. Gurode now faces Haynesworth twice a season. The last time they met, Haynesworth used Gurode's face as a doormat after knocking off his helmet in a 2006 meeting in Tennessee. Haynesworth drew a five-game suspension for the vicious act and Gurode got a face full of stitches.
