Baylor's Jason Smith selected No. 2 by Rams

Baylor offensive tackle Jason Smith, who played high school football at Dallas White, was taken second overall in the NFL Draft today by the St. Louis Rams.

Highland Park graduate Matthew Stafford, quarterback from Georgia, went No. 1 overall in a formality after the Detroit Lions announced earlier today they had signed Stafford to a contract.

The first two picks gave the Dallas area a 1-2 punch at the top of the draft.
