The BYU-Cowboys connection

BYU quarterback Max Hall has a connection to the Cowboys. His mother and former Cowboys quarterback Danny White are brother and sister, and in preparation for his NFL career, Hall has been working out with White.

‘He’s been a great support and a great guy to have as a resource,” Hall said.

Hall broke the BYU record for passing yards, which was set by former Heisman Trophy winner Ty Detmer, with 11,365 yards in his three-year college career.

Despite his prolific stats, Hall is rated as a late-round draft pick at best and may not be drafted at all. The problem is he is another of those “short” quarterbacks, measuring a little under 6-1.

Hall, however, is optimistic.

“The best thing that happened to me this year was Drew Brees,” Hall said of the Saints quarterback, who won the Super Bowl. “We’re about the same height, same build and you saw what he did this year. It doesn’t matter how tall you are, it matters if you can throw the football. I think that will help me out and I think I can prove to people that I can do it.”

Detmer threw for over 15,000 yards in his BYU career.

Sadly, Max as a pro will likely not even live up to the disappointment that was Detmer's career.

Get your facts straight: Hall did NOT break Detmer's passing yards record. Hall is number two behind Detmer. Regardless, good luck to Max at the next level.
