Oklahoma State receiver Dez Bryant is talented. He is 6-2, 225 pounds. In 2008, Bryant caught 87 passes for 1,480 yards and 19 touchdowns and had a 17.9-yard punt return average with two touchdowns. But can he be as good off the field? Bryant was suspended for the final 10 games for lying to NCAA investigators.
He will work out for scouts in his hometown of Lufkin on Tuesday. Two days later, he will visit Valley Ranch.
With his stock falling, Bryant could be there when the Cowboys select 27th.
"I just don’t want to be sitting there on draft day with a great opportunity and not having really done what we ought to have been doing which is know everything about him or any other player of that quality," Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said Tuesday at the league's annual spring meetings.
The Cowboys still have high hopes for Roy Williams opposite Miles Austin. Jones also mentioned Sam Hurd, Kevin Ogletree and Patrick Crayton in his comments Tuesday. Thus, he conceded that the Cowboys might not draft a receiver.
Manuel Johnson and Jesse Holley spent last season on the team's practice squad and will compete for roster spots this season.
