It sounded like a reasonable idea: The Cowboys need a safety. Texas' Earl Thomas is the second-rated safety. So, the rumor goes, the Cowboys were talking trade with the 49ers or the Titans to go get Thomas.
The Press Democrat reported the trade discussed was that the Cowboys would give up the 27th pick as well as their second- and third-round choices (Nos. 59 and 90). Anybody who knows Jerry Jones knows there is no possible way he's giving up that much to move from 27 to 13 for a player who didn't even visit Valley Ranch. Thomas is too small for what the Cowboys do.
Sure enough, a Cowboys' source shot down the rumor. Not happening.
