Cowboys owner Jerry Jones disputed an ESPN report saying the team would rather top pick Dez Bryant spend more time with Hall of Fame receiver Michael Irvin rather than former cornerback Deion Sanders.
Jones expects Irvin to have an influence on Bryant because he is receiver but he said that he has no problem with Bryant's relationship with Sanders. In fact, Jones said that was one of the pluses in team's decision to take Bryant in the first round of Thursday's draft.
"One of his pluses was his support structure here and Deion is one of those," Jones said."It's a big plus. There are no mixed reviews around here about Deion being a plus, relative to Dez. There are no mixed reviews."
"That is not the case," Jones said referring to the ESPN report. "It was a plus."
Sanders has been mentoring Bryant for more than a year. Bryant was suspended by the NCAA during his final season at Oklahoma State for lying about having dinner at Sanders' house last summer. Having dinner with Sanders was not illegal but lying to the NCAA about anything is a punishable offense.

For any folks invested in more and better resident contribution, that is a knock back, i believe.
