With Keith Brooking nursing a shoulder injury, Jason Williams took his place in the starting lineup against the Texans. But rookie Sean Lee saw plenty of playing time with the first team. It was the second preseason game the second-round pick has played. He had only two tackles, down from the eight he had against the Chargers.
"It felt good," Lee said. "I got in a good amount last week. I got in this week. It felt good. I feel like I need a lot of improvement. I need to be a lot more consistent. I think that’s something I need to work on, especially in this next preseason game and going into the season."
Lee did not give himself a good review, much like the defense overall. But he said he will be ready when the season opens Sept. 12 against the Redskins.
"Each week, you try to get better," Lee said. "You try to take a step forward. As a young guy, I thought I was inconsistent and need to be more consistent if I want to help this team."
Lee missed 13 practices in San Antonio while rehabbing a strained quadriceps.
