Third-string quarterback Stephen McGee led the team... in rushing. He had two carries for 15 yards. The second-year quarterback rushed for more yards than he threw for.
"It was a tough night," McGee said. "They did a good job. There were some tough plays. We'll keep battling and hopefully we'll learn and get better tomorrow. I'm sure there are going to be some good things to go over. Oakland did a good job. They were solid in all areas. It was really good work for us."
McGee completed 2 of 7 passes for 11 yards. He had a 39.6 rating.
The most disappointing part of his night came in the third quarter after Teddy Williams recovered a fumble at the Oakland 11. Offensive tackle Robert Brewster had a false start on third down on what might have been a touchdown on a fade pass. On third-and-11 from the Oakland 12, McGee threw short to running back Lonyae Miller, who gained 2 yards to set up a David Buehler field goal.
"It was very disappointing," McGee said. "It was tough for us, because we didn't have a tight end. We had guys playing new positions. Of course, we had the penalty that hurt us. That could have been a touchdown. We just got backed up. It's tough. We've got to make it work, though. Guys have to fill in, and we've got to be on top of what's going on."
Tony Romo was 4-for-7 for 52 yards. Jon Kitna went 8-for-11 for 96 yards. Matt Nichols was 8-for-14 for 72 yards with two interceptions. Forty of his passing yards came on one play at the end of the game.
