Redskins coach Mike Shanahan said Sunday that he wasn't sure Donovan McNabb will be healthy enough to play the season opener against the Cowboys on Sept. 12.
"I really don't know for sure," Shanahan told reporters in Washington. "That's why it's day to day. We'll see how it goes."
McNabb sprained his left ankle in the Redskins' second preseason game. Rex Grossman is his backup.
While the Cowboys probably would love to see Grossman instead of McNabb, it probably would be a pretty safe bet that McNabb will be in the lineup on opening day. He still has two weeks to get his ankle healed.
