Cowboys coach Wade Phillips sounds as if he is leaning toward not playing his starters Thursday night. His philosophy has been to rest his starters in the final preseason game. But immediately after the Cowboys' 23-7 loss to the Texans on Saturday night, Phillips opened the door for the starters to play a series or two against the Dolphins on Thursday night.
On Monday, Phillips seemed to be second-guessing himself when asked if he could get his team some confidence by playing the starters a little Thursday.
"That's to be determined by me," Phillips said. "That's what I'm thinking about. I'm thinking about or what our philosophy has been and probably will continue to be.
"...Our philosophy has been pretty good. I like the way we've done it."
Phillips said he had a better feeling about the Texans' game after watching the game tape.
"After watching the tape, if you look at the play by play, we had some guys that did some good things and some guys that are ready to play," Phillips said.
Phillips singled out guard Leonard Davis, nose tackle Jay Ratliff and left tackle Doug Free for their play against the Texans.
