Perhaps some people were surprised when third team quarterback Stephen McGee connected with veteran Sam Hurd on a 43-yard TD pass in the second quarter.
Hurd wasn't one of them.
Hurd, in fact, said he had a premonition that something was going to happen. And he said he drove to the Cowboys practice facility early Thursday to find McGee and tell him.
“I told him I woke up and I'd had a dream about it," Hurd said. "I said, ‘McGee, we’re going to score. You’re my dude and let’s ball out.' And I just stayed in his head with that and he believed that, too. He was like [after the touchdown], 'you told me that, you told me that.' And I was like 'I told you. I don’t know why I put you in my dream but you were there.' "
Hurd went on to tell more about the dream.
"I woke up this morning and went straight to the [practice] facility," Hurd said. "McGee was there. He was getting in his car, leaving. I ran after him on foot to chase his car down. And I told him about the dream. I told him, 'We’re about to have a great game and you’re about to be phenomenal.' "
