The Cowboys say they played with more fire and passion against the Texans than they did the first two weeks ago of the season.
Part of it was the desperation of being 0-2. Part of it was them being buoyed by fiery speeches and inspirational stories before the game.
What also proved to be a difference maker according to safety Gerald Sensabaugh and cornerback Mike Jenkins was the changes coach Wade Phillips made with the practice schedule last week. Phillips promised the team they will not go into a game unprepared and he made a subtle change to ensure that in practice.
Sensabaugh said the Cowboys the offense and defense now practice at the same time against scout teams on opposite fields. There is no more lagging and standing around while one unit gets work.
"We have an offensive field and a defense field," Sensabaugh said. "We practiced at a faster tempo and we get more plays in. It made a big difference."
Said Sensabaugh: "That’s why (Phillips) changed the practice. he wanted it to be more of a learning session than anything."
