Jerry Jones did not dismiss the notion of veteran leaders. He wasn't asked about any player in particular, but veteran receivers Patrick Crayton and Sam Hurd play a crowded position. Both are respected on the team, but Jones was asked how imporant leadership skills are in deciding whether or not to keep players. Jones was diplomatic, but realistic.
"All of those things are very very important," Jones said. "We certainly know that as time has gone along and we’ve had some great leaders that moved on, because they were at the end of their careers. And so what I’m excited about is a lot of the leadership that we’re seeing coming on, so that’s great."
Jones was obviously talking about not only some of the younger players, but also the young veterans like Tony Romo, Jason Witten, DeMarcus Ware and Bradie James, who are clearly in leadership roles.
