Victor Butler stars

Stephen McGee and David Buehler stole the show, overshadowing how well Victor Butler played Thursday night. Butler had six tackles, two sacks and two forced fumbles.

"[Butler] was outstanding," Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said. "I thought he really played well, and it should bear out on tape."

In-game statisticians first credited Stephen McGee with the forced fumble of Dolphins starting quarterback Chad Henne. McGee is the Cowboys' third-string quarterback. When shown their error, the statisticians then credited Jason Hatcher with a sack and forced fumble. Finally, after much persistence from the media, Butler got his due.

"They better get it right," Butler said. "My momma was at the game. They better get it right, or she will correct it."

On the next play, Butler again sacked Henne and stripped the ball. This time, rookie Sean Lee recovered for the Cowboys.

"You always want to be productive when you're out there and when you get a chance to show what you can do against someone else's ones [first-teamers]," Butler said. "It kind of makes you look better in the coaches' eyes. So if guys like DeMarcus Ware need a blow, backups can come in, and it's like the defense never missed a beat and that's what you want to do as a backup in this league. When you get out there and have a showing like that, it puts a lot of faith in the coaches that if I put him out there, we know he's going to do this job and go above and beyond trying to make plays to help this team win."
