Rookie fullback Chris Gronkowski has been beating himself up over Tony Romo’s injury. He was responsible for picking up blitzing Giants linebacker Michael Boley, who drove Romo’s left shoulder into the ground.
Gronkowski, who was lined up behind left tackle Doug Free, said he lost sight of Boley before it was too late.
“I tried to get out into a pattern,” Gronkowski said. “I saw the guy late and was already outside and couldn’t get back inside.
“It’s just something that happens. You make a mistake. You’ve just got to make sure it never happens again.”
He said he knows exactly what to do next time. He has replayed it over and over in his mind and seen it on film too many times to forget. He still feels sick that his quarterback is out 6-8 weeks because of his mistake.
"I would have stepped up, come out at him and stepped inside and make sure he wasn’t coming before I got out," Gronkowski said. "...It's definitely a setback. I’ve just got to keep working on it."
