A day later, Alan Ball could laugh about the blackout at the New Meadowlands Stadium. That occurred in the third quarter Sunday night when all the lights to the stadium went out because of a blown transformer.
With the game only 15 miles away from where the World Trade Center once stood, Ball said he thought the worst and took no chances.
“I hit the deck,” said Ball, who was smiling and laughing on Monday. “I was on the ground protecting myself.”
“From anything,” Ball said. “We’re in New York, in a multi-million dollar stadium and all the lights go out? That type of stuff is not supposed to happen. Y’all telling me y’all weren’t nervous.”
Ball was obviously pleased when the lights came on. And he did get off the ground.
