The good-natured jokes continue in the locker room about Jon Kitna’s 29-yard run for a touchdown Sunday against Detroit. Kitna has only 868 rushing yards in his 14-year career. Only three years ago with the Lions, he played in all 16 games and rushed for 63 yards the entire season.
On Sunday, however, he gained 40 yards. But as a 38-year-old quarterback, he did not gain them at world-class speed.
Receiver Roy Williams was asked Tuesday if Kitna had been challenging anyone to a race. Williams raised his eyebrows and said: “Maybe Leonard Davis.”
And if Kitna raced the 6-6, 355-pound offensive guard, who would win?
“I’m going to go with big Len Davis,” Williams said.
Davis enjoyed hearing that.
“That’s a good choice right there,” Davis said, laughing. “Odds are real high on that one.”
