Don’t try telling Bryan McCann he stepped out of bounds.
The Cowboys cornerback scored on a 97-yard punt return against the Lions. Replays showed he might have stepped out of bounds during the return, but the Lions didn’t challenge the play.
“I didn't even see replay, to be honest with you,” McCann said Monday. “Joe D [special teams coach Joe DeCamillis] was telling me that [NBC analyst] Tony Dungy was on it hard, saying I stepped out of bounds. I said, ‘That’s not what the stat sheet said.’ That’s all that matters.”
McCann was nominated for NFC special teams player of the week a week after winning NFC defensive player of the week honors for his team-record 101-yard interception return for a touchdown against the Giants. McCann has played in only three games in his career.
