The Cowboys promoted practice squad safety Andrew Sendejo to the active roster on Monday. They released defensive end Jimmy Saddler-McQueen to make room for him.
The move culminates a world wind week for Sendejo, a San Antonio native who grew up a Cowboys fan.
Sendejo, a rookie from Rice, was just signed to the practice squad last week after spending the season in UFL with the Sacramento Mountain Lions.
He ranked second in the league with 48 tackles and had seven pass deflections and two interceptions.
In the end it was a shrewd business move by the Cowboys. If they would have signed Sendejo to the active roster last week they would have to pay a $150,000 transfer fee. But because they signed him first to the practice squad, they avoided the fee.
