The Cowboys have as many Pro Bowlers as they have victories this season, with five players selected. The league announced Tuesday that center Andre Gurode, tight end Jason Witten, nose tackle Jay Ratliff, linebacker DeMarcus Ware and punter Mat McBriar will play in Honolulu on Jan. 30.
All five were selected as starters.
“I take pride in being consistent in what I do, and this is just a great honor,” Ware said. “Obviously, we wanted to do better as a team, but this is a nice way to be recognized individually.”
It is the seventh time Witten has been selected, the sixth-most appearances by a player in team history. Gurode was elected for a fifth time, as was Ware. Ratliff will be making his third consecutive appearance. McBriar’s only other Pro Bowl cam ein 2006.
“It’s a huge honor to be selected, and I’m very humbled by it,” Witten said. “I have been fortunate enough to play in several Pro Bowls, but I am still humble because I know how many great players there are in this league. I was hoping for a better season for our team, but individually you try to be one of the best at your position. Going to the Pro Bowl is a great experience and an honor.”
