Rookie Miller saves McCann

Lonyae Miller has spent the entire season on the practice squad but was signed to the 53-man roster this week to replace the injured Marion Barber.

In his first NFL game Sunday, he made one of the biggest plays of the game, recovering a Bryan McCann fumble on a kickoff return with 29 seconds left in regulation time.

“The first thing in my mind was ‘jump on it, bottle it up tight’” the rookie free agent from Fresno State said, “because I knew there were going to be guys all over me trying to rip it out. So I got on top of it and held on for dear life and just left no doubt. I didn’t let go of that ball until the ref said ‘OK, you can get up.’”

Had Miller not recovered, the Colts would have had the ball in field goal range.
