Pro Bowl tight end Jason Witten didn’t hesitate when asked if he’s having his best year.
“I think so,” Witten replied. “When you look at blocking, catches, touchdowns and everything, I think so.”
Witten’s numbers speak for themselves. He has a team leading 82 catches for 911 yards and career-high tying seven touchdowns and should make his seventh straight Pro Bowl.
With two games left, he could easily finish with his second-best statistical season _ just behind the 96-catch, 1,145-yard performance in 2007.
Even more impressive is that he’s put up the majority of the numbers with Jon Kitna at quarterback in place of injured best friend Tony Romo.
Fifty seven of his 82 receptions of come from Kitna, including five touchdowns. That includes his best three games of the season _ 10 catches for 97 yards against Jacksonville, 10 catche for 99 yards against New Orleans and 10 catches for 140 yards against the Washington last Sunday.
“You have to take advantage of the opportunity you get,” Witten said. “That’s what this is about.”
