*Maryland running back Da’Rel Scott has run the fastest combine 40-yard dash time so far, clocking an official 4.34.
*Abilene Christian receiver Edmund Gates ran a 4.37, tying Fort Valley’s Ricardo Lockette for the fastest time among receivers. Gates caught 66 passes for 1,182 yards and 13 touchdowns last year.
*Oregon State defensive tackle Stephen Paea set the combine record in the bench press. He lifted 225 pounds 49 times, beating the previous mark of 45.
*Arkansas quarterback Ryan Mallett and Washington quarterback Jake Locker had good days throwing the ball, rating the best among those who threw. Locker ran a 4.59 in the 40-yard dash. Virginia Tech’s Tyrod Taylor was the fastest quarterback at 4.51.
