Auburn quarterback Cam Newton did not have a good day throwing the ball. He struggled with his accuracy, going 11-for-21. The Heisman Trophy winner overthrew receivers on three short out passes.
“He did not score a knockout but not everybody was wearing gloves,” said quarterback guru George Whitfield Jr., who has been working with Newton in San Diego.
Whitfield said Newton’s final exam will come March 8 at his Pro Day at Auburn.
Newton did show his athleticism with a 4.59 in the 40-yard dash and a 10-foot, 6-inch broad jump.

The doping cloud that has for several years hovered over track and field is so manifest that a group of seven leading American athletes in the sport, appearing together on a panel at the media summit, was asked by a reporter from the Fort Worth Star-Telegram if any of them had any words for Jones – behind bars within the paper’s circulation area.
