Getting Mike Jenkins back to his old self just takes confidence

For Mike Jenkins to return to his Pro Bowl form of two years ago, he’s going to need confidence, secondary coach Dave Campo said.

“I think he’s got to get out here and play well and feel good about himself,” Campo said. “I think right now, he feels pretty good. He’s moving around, he’s in good shape. He’s got skills. He didn’t make the Pro Bowl two years ago without some skills. So I look for him to come back.”

Jenkins had one interception a year ago, plus nine passes defensed. Two years ago, he had five interceptions and 19 PDs.

“I think confidence was an issue there,” Campo said. “When they started getting a few of those penalties – which, I’ve got to be careful so I don’t get fined – but there were some things that kind of put it in the back of his mind, ‘We can’t let that happen.’ He’s just got to play football because he’s a good football player.”
