The Cowboys' offensive line will have a different look to it with rookie Tyron Smith coming and right guard Leonard Davis going, at least for now. They also will be without starting center Andre Gurode to start camp.
Gurode had surgery on his right knee in June and will start camp on the physically unable to perform list. Gurode is running and will continue to do so as he works himself back into practice.
The Pro Bowler has missed only two starts in the past five seasons. He is expected back into the lineup for the season opener against the Jets, but in the meantime, second-year veteran Phil Costa will get a chance to impress. The Cowboys also drafted Bill Nagy in the seventh round, and they signed free agent center Kevin Kowalski.
Rookie linebacker Bruce Carter also is expected to begin on the PUP list as he continues his rehab from the anterior cruciate ligament he tore in November.
